Today’s verse says THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I LACK NOTHING.

I’m a person who has it all. I lack nothing!! The bible says that, if the Lord is my shepherd, that’s a true statement. Well, HE IS my shepherd. He’s not only the Good Shepherd, He’s the best shepherd. He’s the best of the best.

He fills my life with grace and peace. He gives me all that I need to walk the path He has set before me, and He enables me to serve Him well. Not by my strength, certainly; but by His. He fills my life with love beyond measure, overflowing joy and a peace that persists even in the midst of challenges and trials. He gives me the patience I need to press on. His kindness and goodness shine through me like bright headlights on a dark night; and His faithfulness leads me on into the unknown with the courage that comes from knowing I never go alone. His gentleness propels me forward into greater and greater exploits to serve my shepherd. His character working in me delivers the self-control I need to stay the course.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I LACK NOTHING

Anything and everything I truly need, He gives me. He has no lack. His timing is perfect. His wisdom impeccable. He is perfect in all of His ways.

He does, in fact, tend His flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms; He carries them close to His heart. He’s not some distant shepherd sitting on a rock outcropping; but He’s close by and watching over His own. He came to serve, not to be served, and to give His own life as a ransom.

Like a good shepherd, He searches out the sheep who have wandered. He says, “I, I myself will search for My sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered.” He’s a rescuer.

He understands the battles we face and the challenges that try to divert us. He understands because He became one of us. The Good Shepherd is also one of the sheep, He is also the Lamb that was slain; He laid down His life to purchase ours. The only way we truly know love is when we see how He laid down His life. Greater love has no one than this – that someone lay down His life for His friends.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I LACK NOTHING

So now we turn to the question, “What do you give the person who has EVERYTHING?” There is really only ONE thing we have to give Him. It’s ourselves. It is the only thing He will never take, but will always accept. We, who have been straying like sheep, we have to return to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls. Since He laid down His life for us, we ought to lay down our lives for others.

If the Lord is your shepherd, you’ve got it all !!!

So my prayer for you today is this — May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with every good thing to do His will.
