When we spoke about peace yesterday, there was one important lesson we didn’t cover. I wanted to save it for today. It’s the “quick dial” code for peace. And you don’t even need a phone!

In yesterday’s time together, we spoke with you about having peace under pressure. Do you remember the illustration I used — “Eagle or Beagle” ??
But I left out an important benefit.
In the USA (and also in many places around the world) the number for emergency services is 911. When any emergency strikes, you dial “911” and help is immediately dispatched. Need an ambulance? CALL 911. Have you spotted a building on fire? CALL 911. Is someone breaking into your home? CALL 911. You get the picture.
Too bad there’s no “911” number we can call for the OTHER things in life that try to rob our peace, right?
Ahhhh, BUT THERE IS !!!!
When “emergency situations” arise in your personal or spiritual life, you really CAN call 911 with God. His EMERGENCY NUMBER is 2911. (That’s TWICE as good as plain old “911.”) Let me explain what I mean, and teach you a scripture memory trick, all at the same time.
Today’s verse says THE LORD GIVES STRENGTH TO HIS PEOPLE; THE LORD BLESSES HIS PEOPLE WITH PEACE
That’s found in the book of Psalms. Psalm 29, and verse 11. You can think of it as “TWO NINE ONE ONE” –
TWO promises, one verse .
God says He WILL give strength to His people and He WILL bless His people with peace.
It doesn’t say He might do it. It’s not a wishy-washy “gee, I hope He does it” kind of a promise. He says HE WILL.
When you choose to STAY in the peace of God, and walk in His peace, He adds extra strength to deal with the situations that intend to take your mind OFF God and attempt to destroy His peace.
I can personally testify that God WILL give you peace and strength to face the worst that life can throw at you. Here are some things I’ve faced with God’s strength and His perfect peace:
- Cancer (had a 17% chance of survival)
- Homelessness for almost a year, with a wife, four children and a grandchild
- Total financial ruin (bet you guessed that from the “homeless” part)
- House fires (yes, plural!)
- Death of my father
- Vicious and vile character attacks
- Abandonment and treachery of people I thought to be “friends”
My list could go on, but you should check out Paul’s list in 2 Corinthians 11:24-28. It will curl your hair.
But God gives PEACE. And He gives STRENGTH.
And when He does — YOU ARE STRONG AND IMMOVEABLE.
